Outreachy internship with the support of a mentor from the computer science department
The Outreachy project has announced the applicants for the next internships.
Our colleague Thomas Lange is a mentor for one of the Outreachy
internships that run from December 2024 to March 2025. We are pleased to welcome
Divine Attah-Ohiemi for the project "Make the Debian main website more attractive
by switching to HuGo as site generator."
Outreachy is a paid, remote internship program with open-source
software projects and open science for people who face systemic
bias and are impacted by underrepresentation in the tech industry of their
country. Outreachy supports diversity with a three-month paid ($7000)
internship.
Interns work remotely with experienced mentors from open source
communities. Thomas is a long time member of the Debian project which
is funding two applicants for the ongoing internships.
Debian is the well-known Linux distribution that is one of the oldest
distributions and is the base for other Linux variants like Ubuntu and
Linux Mint. Debian is created by a worldwide group of volunteers who
endeavor to produce an operating system distribution that is composed
entirely of free software.
Outreachy started in 2006 and internships run twice a year.
Since the beginning of the program, Outreachy welcomed over 1,000
interns into the open source community.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Thomas.
