Course content

The seminar has a scope of 2 SWS and gives 6 ECTS points.

In the seminar we deal with the challenges in software engineering for the development of software systems that are heavily based on machine learning or AI. We work out how an idea and an initial model developed by a data scientist (eg scripts and Jupyter notebooks) can be used as part of a scalable and maintainable system (eg mobile apps, web applications, IoT device) can. This course does not focus on modeling and learning per se, but rather focuses on issues of design, implementation, operation, and security and how these interact with the data scientist's modeling.

This seminar is aimed at students who have previous knowledge of software engineering and who want to understand the specific challenges of working with AI components, and to students with previous knowledge of data science who understand the challenges involved in transferring a prototype to production want; it facilitates communication and collaboration between the two roles.

Due to the close supervision, the seminar is currently limited to 15 participants.

The seminar is designed for  2 SWS and is worth  6 ECTS points.
